Prof. Anoop Misra is the Chairman, Fortis-CDOC Centre of Excellence for Diabetes, Obesity, Metabolic Diseases & Endocrinology, and Chairman, Centre for Internal Medicine, Fortis Hospitals, New Delhi and Director, National Diabetes, Obesity and Cholesterol Foundation, India. He has been a faculty at the Department of Endocrinology and Human Nutrition at the Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, USA, and former Professor of Medicine, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.
Prof. Misra has more than 25 years of experience in teaching, service, research and community health intervention programs directed towards Asian Indians and particularly for underprivileged people.
Prof. Misra has been a member of World Health Organization and Indian Council of Medical Research Expert Groups for Childhood Obesity, Fatty Liver, Diabetes, and Gestational Diabetes and Member, Governing Committee, National Institute of Nutrition, National Nutrition Monitoring Bureau, National Control Programs for Diabetes and Cardiovascular Diseases, Expert Committee for Drugs Controller General of India, India. In addition, he is also Secretary, Treasurer and Steering Committee member of prestigious Magnuson’s Global Diabetes Research Alliance.
He is on the editorial boards of 11 prestigious journals. He has been awarded highest award for medicine in India Dr BC Roy Award (2006) and prestigious National Honor, Padma Shri (2007). Recently he has been conferred two National awards ‘Americare Award’ (Americare Foundation) and “Swastha Bharat Samman” (from Zee TV) for most outstanding contribution to Diabetes in India. He has given 20 named orations in India and neighbouring countries. He is member of editorial boards of 10 international journals, including Associate Editor of “Diabetic Medicine”and “Diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome: Research and Reviews”. He has written several editorials for prestigious journal “The Lancet” and is reviewer for more than 30 Journals including “Circulation” and “Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism”.
Prof. Misra has several important scientific findings to his credit including Asian definitions of obesity, abdominal obesity and syndrome X. He has led countrywide consensus of guidelines for obesity, the metabolic syndrome, physical activity and diets. He has research collaborations with scientists from USA, UK, Australia, Netherlands, Canada, Malaysia, and Sweden. Project MARG, the largest intervention project on nutrition and health of schoolchildren in Asia, has been conceptualized and carried out by his team and has been internationally lauded.
He is a member of Advisory Boards in a number of organizations dealing with diabetes, obesity and metabolic disorders in India, other developing countries and several western countries. He is leading several international trials concerning nutrition, obesity, the metabolic syndrome and diabetes in India.
He has been personal physician to two former Prime Ministers of India.
Dr Ritesh Gupta, Head, Clinical Operations & Senior Consultant and diabetes expert, is an alumnus of the celebrated AIIMS and has over 15 years of rich experience in clinical practice in internal medicine and his area of expertise are type 1 diabetes, insulin therapy, diabetic foot, male sexual dysfunction and hormonal disorders. Dr RK Lalwani, Senior Consultant, completed his MD from Ajmer and secured a Diploma in Diabetes from University of Newcastle (Australia) and the prestigious Fellowship of IMSA. He is a Life Member of many societies like Research Society for Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI), Cardiological Society of India(CSI),Association of Physicians of India (API), Indian Society for Critical Care Medicine, IMA South Delhi, Delhi Diabetic Forum, International Medical Science Academy (IMSA), Geriatric Society of India, South Delhi Doctors’ Forum-SDDF, Indian Society For Bone And Mineral Research & Indian Rheumatology Association. He is also a Diabetes Expert and Educator for Medical Professionals and Faculty Member for Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI). Dr. Amar Pal Singh Suri, Foot care Specialist (Podiatrist), graduated from S. N. Medical College, Agra, and secured a Podiatry Fellowship from the prestigious Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Boston ( Harvard Medical University, USA), as well as a fellowship in Biomechanical pressure offloading techniques from Temple School of Podiatry, Philadelphia, USA. He is the Founder President of the Indian Podiatry Association (IPA); Member, American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA); Member, American Association of Wound Care (AAWC); Member, European Diabetic Foot Study Group; and Member, Hyperbaric Society of America.
Dr. I.P.S. Kochar, Paediatric & Adolescent Endocrinologist, completed his MD from MAMC, New Delhi; MRCPH from London; MAMS from Vienna; and a fellowship in Paediatric Endocrinology from Great Ormond Street Hospital in the UK. He also established Paediatric Endocrinology departments in various hospitals in the UAE. In addition, he is a member of the American Endocrine Society, Asian Pacific Endocrine Society, ISPAE, Indian Thyroid Society, Endocrine Society of India, Indian Bone Mineral & Research Society, IAP, IMA, etc. His main areas of interest are growth- diabetes and premature sexual maturation. Dr.Murali Subramaniam, Consultant, Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon, is a graduate from Madras Medical College. He completed his FRCS (End), FRCS (Gen & Vasc) and underwent surgical training at the Universities of West Indies and UK. His research on stem cell therapy to cure diabetes was nominated for the Medawar Medal by the British Transplantation Society. He completed his training in vascular surgery from Glasgow (Scotland) via a UK National Training Number and obtained an endovascular fellowship from University College Galway, Ireland.
